What LCA means for us: new video

The role of LCA in the stress tests in the words of Katja Rebec, Slovenian LCA scientist.

The LCA – Life Cycle Analysis – is the method used by the PEFMED partners to assess the environmental posture of agrofood companies to the Product Environmental Footprint.

The Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute (ZAG) is the leading Slovenian Institute in the field of building and civil engineering and also in a role of Slovenian external expert for testing pilots in PEFMED project. They were chosen because they have by far the most extensive experience in determining environmental footprints.

The topic of determination of environmental footprints of products is becoming more and more actual. ZAG addressing it with the standardized LCA method. They are interested in this kind of analysis from the point of view of improvement. They are also determining footprints of recycled materials or how to promote a re-use method. Their role in the PEFMED Project was to test the LCA method with other changed methods and to determine the environmental footprint of a product. In this area they already upgraded our existing knowledge and contributed it to a wider European area. The results were compared with each other.

From this point of view, it was very interesting for them. They will continue to use this kind of knowledge in the future.
