On 27th May 2019, the PEFMED consortium organised its final conference in Rome, hosted at the WeGil building in Trastevere. The event allowed the project partners to share the main results of the PEFMED project with a diverse and engaged audience.
The main aim of the PEFMED project was to test the EU “Product Environmental Footprint” methodology to assess the environmental impact of production cycles in the agri-food sector and to consider the impacts of a product along its life cycle.
Hence the one-day conference presented the actions taken during the process, the results, the methodology, the barriers. The results of the pilot actions have also been presented, in fact, 9 different companies with their products in 9 different European regions took part in the project and accepted to measure their environmental impact with this new methodology
The program of the conference covered the following macro-topics:
- PEFMED results in a nutshell
- The action of policymakers in europe
- Relevance of the local policies and the regional actors
- Protagonists
During the final part of the conference, the winners of the “Green Poster” prize have been announced and awarded. The competitors had to submit an abstract to describe an innovation to improve the environmental performance of the agri-food sector.
