“Endless opportunities from PEFMED”, a meat company says after the stress test

“If Europe is standardizing the way for the calculation of carbon and water footprint, without any doubt the PEFMED will be a successful project!”, ARGAL points out after being involved in the PEFMED stress tests.

ARGAL, founded in 1914, is a meat processing company located in Navarra, at the foot of the Pyrenees, in one of the regions with deep-seated traditions in the production of salamis. ARGAL, that started as a family business in a little butcher’s shop and it is now present  in over 30 countries, has always worked with high quality raw ingredients, continuously improving facilities and processes with the best technology, always respecting tradition. Sustainability and minimization of environmental footprint have been part of company strategy from the early years and this made the participation of ARGAL in the PEFMED stress tests and exiting and worthily experiences.

The posture of ARGAL to PEF standards was focused both on the animal feeding and livestock protocols in use, hence involving the supply chain. ARGAL overall expectations from PEFMED, following the certification of carbon and water footprint, is to show the firm’s commitment to sustainability across the costumers and market end users. “The overall goal is to gain a key difference in the final product packaging that can be appreciated by the consumers. There are endless opportunities to put in practices what PEFMED has opened to ARGAL”   says ARGAL. “If Europe is standardizing the way for the calculation of carbon and water footprint, without any doubt the PEFMED will be a successful project!”
